SWORDS. Broadsword and rapier. Gideon is an excellent sword hand and has been training with a two-hander since she was four, and with a rapier for about three months before joining Well.

PALAMEDES SEXTUS. Gideon directly remembers Palamedes through a core and trappings. She remembers that he talks like a goddman necromancer, and that she's someone she trusts.

HOLY SKINMAGS. Gideon remembers in bizarre detail the plot and worldbuilding of a series of pornographic lesbian comics she read. This gives her a lot of random cultural knowledge about most of the Houses, most of which is propaganda or stereotype from a the perspective of the House which wrote it. There are a lot of useful nuggets in there! There's an equal amount of blatant lies and misinformation!

BAD MAGIC. Flicker memories of moments when necromancy was used to stitch her back together: it's something that hurts. 4.2.

CHATTEL. A man looms outside her cell as she freezes in her cot; he is punishing her for refusing to wear the sacramental Ninth paint. She knows she gave in. 4.2.

SOBRIQUETS. During the auroras in 4.2, Gideon heard a girl her age addressing her as 'Griddle', 'Nav', and 'disgusting little cuckoo.' She heard an older woman addressing her as 'Nav' and giving snappish remarks she recognized as given during a swords lesson.

4.2 DECEMBER

@ Gideon meets Palamedes in the maze and is rudely accused of being a Niner. He tries to lead her back to Well, but they become separated in the maze.
@ She then finds her way back to the graveyard, meets John Gaius, and arrives in Wellstone with him. He gives her a sword! They trade loyalties! She turns to stone.

Gideon takes a stone statue hiatus in John's room until the last day of December.

@ Gideon sees Alec's mural. He does her a solid and points her in the direction John might be.
@ Gideon gets a hug from Palamedes and asks important questions about necromancy.

Gideon Nav was abandoned as an infant and raised as an indentured servant to the House of the Ninth, where her only debt was the cost of her food and shelter. She was one of only two children on the entire planet: herself, and a girl who hated her. The leaders of the House scorned her and often had her beaten for things so minor as accidentally brushing their robes.

Her fear is that she will die indebted to the Ninth, and that her corpse will continue to pay that debt forever (as life in a necromantic world means her skeleton would be forced to labor for the House). Her entire life, she dreams of escape: she trains hard with a sword in the hope that she can enlist in the Cohort army to leave the planet for good. She makes escape attempt after escape attempt despite the horrible punishments and consequences, desperate to become anything but Ninth.

What is your character's greatest desire? How are they defined by this desire? (100-300 words)

Gideon Nav's greatest desire is to be asked rather than told; it is to be wanted; and it is to be needed.

Gideon's life has been one of being told she is a burden, a waste of space, a debt by her very existence. When finally given the opportunity, Gideon goes to extreme lengths to be useful and to be needed: she willingly offers to allow her necromancer to put her in situations of great pain on the mere basis that it will be a little bit useful. She consensually allows her necromancer to risk her life for very little gain merely because her necromancer asked her nicely and it gave her the autonomy to choose.

It is the baseline fuel behind her every interaction she has with another person. When someone is kind to her, she will forever more take every opportunity to be worthy of that kindness.

How will not having memories change your character? What core personality traits, if any, will change? How? (200-300 words)

Gideon's most significant loss of memory will be the loss of any memory of any affection anyone has ever shown her. She feels, in her core, that she is unlovable, unwanted, and alone. She will desperately cling to any kindness shown to her in Well, and without specific memories of childhood abuse, she'll do so with significantly less of the paranoia and assuming-the-worst that her abusive upbringing gave her. While in canon she bonds quickly with anyone who is nice to her, she will let her bond with people deeper than she can in canon, and with trust, for better and mostly worse!

Rather than her canon loyalty to one specific necromancer (Harrowhark), she will believe she was a Cohort soldier serving the Empire as a whole. She's a swords-woman without a necromancer; she'll feel a little disoriented, and she will be trying to find someone to latch onto and protect.

However, Gideon will also lose the memories of being treated like dirt. She will become less paranoid, be happier and less self-hating, and will therefore will be slower to doubt any positive attention she's shown. As a result, she'll be faster to throw herself into danger.

INVENTORY

RAPIER. Gideon was given her rapier by John immediately upon arriving to Well. The blade is thin and solid, and makes a satisfying whipping sound when swung, moving faster than one would think (giving a +1 to speed of attack). It has an intricate swept cross guard. The hilt is comfortable in the hand, and wrapped with a soft, buttery black leather that has formed to her hand. [ x ] She keeps it in a hideous scabbard found by John in the General Store.

SACRAMENTAL FACEPAINT. A jar made from intricately constructed bone, filled with the black and alabaster sacramental face paint of the Ninth House clergy. A reward from the gravetender for completing the bartender's quest in 5.1.
